BED SYSTEM
Approach features two bed platforms. The upper bed platform is intended to be the primary sleeping area in Approach, while the lower bed can also be used as a primary or secondary sleeping area.
The upper bed platform consists of 3 panels that sit on rails attached to the walls of Approach, and a RoamRest mattress that can fold over on itself. These panels allow for customized configurations of the bed, as well as full removal if desired.
The primary configuration for the 3-panel bed system allows for full usage of the space as a bed. When fully deployed, the bed panels take up the entire rail section, and are secured to the wall using spring loaded locking pins. To lock the pins, please use the included socket driver to tighten the pins which eliminate movement of the bed panels.
If more space is needed in the van, stack the panels on top of each other and shift the panels to the back of the van. To do this, make sure to loosen the locking pins, and pull and rotate the pins to free the panel from the rail. Next, locate the two grip holes in the center of the panel, and lift and shift the panel. When all panels are stacked, you can use the included shackle straps to secure the panels together through the grip holes, and then fold the mattress to complete the stack. This configuration allows more lounge area, and if desired, you can remove the mattress and use the stacked panels as a storage shelf.
The final configuration for the upper bed is to fully remove it. This is the ideal configuration if you want to maximize your lounge area, or use the lower bed as your primary sleeping area. To remove the bed panels, make sure the panels are unlocked from the rail, and lift each panel individually to remove it from the van.
To use the lower bed, remove the cushions located on the drivers side bench. This will expose 3 panels that flip over and rest on the opposing bench seat. When deployed, slide the back cushions into place and replace the driver side cushions to finish off the lower bed. The lower bed can be used with or without the upper bed deployed, and creates a secondary or alternative sleeping area.
