BED SYSTEMS

Approach features two bed platforms. The upper bed platform is intended to be the primary sleeping area in Approach, while the lower bed can also be used as a primary or secondary sleeping area.

The upper bed platform consists of 3-Panels that sit on rails attached to the walls of Approach, and a RoamRest mattress that can fold over on itself. These panels allow for customized configurations of the bed, as well as full removal if desired.

The primary configuration for the 3-Panel bed system allows for full usage of the space as a bed. When fully deployed, the bed panels take up the entire rail section, and are secured to the wall using spring loaded locking pins. To lock the pins, please use the included socket driver to tighten the pins which eliminate movement of the bed panels.

If you want more space in the van, you can stack the panels on top of each other and shift the panels to the back of the van. To do this, make sure to loosen the locking pins, and pull and rotate the pins to free the panel from the rail. Next, locate the two grip holes in the center of the panel, and lift and shift the panel. When all panels are stacked, you can use the included shackle straps to secure the panels together through the grip holes, and then fold the mattress to complete the stack. This configuration allows more lounge area, and if desired, you can remove the mattress and use the stacked panels as a storage shelf.

The final configuration for the upper bed is to fully remove it. This is the ideal configuration if you want to maximize your lounge area, or use the lower bed as your primary sleeping area. To remove the bed panels, make sure the panels are unlocked from the rail, and lift each panel individually to remove it from the van.

To use the lower bed, remove the cushions located on the drivers side bench. This will expose 3 panels that flip over and rest on the opposing bench seat. When deployed, slide the back cushions into place and replace the driver side cushions to finish off the lower bed.

The lower bed can be used with or without the upper bed deployed, and creates a secondary or alternative sleeping area.

DINETTE OPTIONS

Approach features two areas that can act as a dining or group seating area. The rear dinette area takes advantage of the two rear bench seats to create an expansive lounge, while the front dinette area utilizes the swiveling captains chairs to create an intimate dining area.

Each dinette setup utilizes the included table and legs located behind the drivers side seat on the side of the galley.

To set up the rear dinette, remove the two table legs mounted to the side wall of the galley. Locate the two mounting ports located on the floor. These ports have rubber covers that must be removed before use.

To attach the legs, locate the mounting point at the bottom of each leg and insert it into the floor port. Gently twist each leg clockwise to tighten and secure the legs to the floor. Next, slide out the table from its caddy on the side of the galley, and line up the bottom of the table to the legs. Place the table on top of the legs and give it a gently nudge until you hear a click. The table is now ready for use.

The rear dinette can be used with the upper bed in the stacked configuration or when it is fully removed.

For the front dinette, repeat the same steps for the table setup by locating the floor ports, twisting and locking in the table legs, and gently securing the table top to the legs. This setup is intended to be used with the two rear passenger seats, but if four person access is required, roll up the 3-panel cabin divider and swivel the front driver and passenger captains chairs.

ROOF RACK

The roof rack on approach is multi-functional, and not only mounts and secures the rooftop solar panel, front lightbar, rear lights, and crossbars, but it has also been designed to accept a variety of storage options through its mounting plates.

To access the roof rack, there’s a side utility ladder. The ladder on Approach is also multifunctional, and in addition to providing access to the roof rack, it also can accept a variety of mounts on the front plates of each step to enable mounting of items such as RotoPax or traction boards. Each slot will also accept a strip of L-Track to further expand mounting options.

MATERIALS

At Outside Van, we meticulously select and source top-tier components and materials, ensuring that every element used in Approach is not only durable but also optimized for the demands of life on the road. This results in a product that not only looks and feels better but also outperforms competitors in terms of longevity, comfort, and overall functionality. Our attention to detail and the relentless pursuit of excellence set us apart as a leader in the van conversion industry.

FLOORING: LONSEAL LONRIDGE

This durable marine grade vinyl can withstand the most rugged adventures and can be easily wiped down when its time to clean up sand, dirt, mud, snow, or pet hair. Boasting a unique cross-hatch embossed design, Lonseal Lonridge flooring has all the slip resistance a surface needs while also providing a dusting of speckles that help mask the mess.

CABINETRY: MARINE GRADE PLYWOOD & WILSONART HP LAMINATE

You won’t find any particle board here. Known for its water resistance, strength, dimensional stability, and longevity, we use marine grade plywood for all of the cabinetry found in Approach. It’s then finished with Wilsonart High Pressure Laminate, which is 3X more resistant to wear, scratches, and scuffing, compared to other laminates.

COUNTERTOP: CORIAN

Corian withstands daily wear and tear, keeping its good looks for many years. Thanks to its nonporous surface, it’s antimicrobial because there’s no place for bacteria and mold to take root. As a low-VOC material, it’s free from dangerous chemicals and supports better indoor air quality.

MATTRESS: ROAMREST

RoamRest’s Ultimate Tri-Fold Mattress utilizes a dual-hinged tri-fold design that’s extremely versatile and can be easily stored when not in use. It’s made using a 5” thick high performance/low profile foam, soft polyester top fabric that’s water- and abrasion-resistant, and low-slip nylon coated side fabric for easy cleaning. Several unique fabric patterns are available.

CEILING: SILEATHER

Sileather is a silicone leather that’s easy to clean, weatherproof, antimicrobial, and highly durable. Silicone has high thermal stability due to its molecular bonding, which means it’s resistant to both low and high temperatures, which vans see a lot of. Because of its low surface tension, it’s stain resistant and hydrophobic.

WALLS: INTERWEAVE FABRIC

Interweave fabric is non-allergenic, mildew resistant, and won’t absorb spills or stains. It’s extremely durable and holds up to regular heavy use. A staple in Outside Vans from the beginning, interweave is tested and approved!
