General Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Production Plant for production vans. Responsibilities include managing priorities to effectively meet schedules and cost estimates, while maintaining all quality and safety standards. Utilizing product knowledge, technology and machinery, various production methods and procedures, to run and maintain an efficient and cost-effective production floor. Appropriate scheduling, inventory management and material workflows are additional aspects of managing an efficient production floor. Building and maintaining a collaborative team and routinely supplying the plant with tools and equipment. Additionally, working with all team members on the full cycle van upfit process from planning, execution, delivery and being profitable.
Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities
- Ownership of the full production cycle of the manufacturing process of upfitting standardized vans. This includes everything from planning, execution, delivering as well as protecting and safeguarding Outside Van by following safety guidelines.
- Manage a dynamic production schedule that meets demand, which is efficient and cost effective for the business.
- Develop production processes, workflows and standards that support the needs of the business. This includes appropriate staffing, machines, equipment and tooling to obtain optimum production.
- Monitor product standards, implement control and operating methods to maintain exceptional quality and minimize defects and warranty issues.
- Triage and monitor all operational processes, schedules and priorities as needed to adjust for failures, material shortages, defects, errors, labor shortages, etc.
- Responsible for being proactive with warranty and/or recall issues that may arise, upgrading and/or replacing known issues.
- This role is part of the management team of Outside van, requiring active participation in strategic initiatives and setting goals and targets to rapidly scale the business, as well as achieving goals and targets.
- Responsible for continuous improvement as we widen the gap and discover better opportunities that should be reviewed and implemented.
- Management and leadership of all staff members within all department(s), Offline assembly and machining departments as well as the production line.
- Coaching and development of staff members.
- Back up and support of the production teams, management team and innovation team.
- Routine connection and collaboration between departments and teams.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required
- 10+ years of relevant work experience as well as 7+ year of experience in management, with demonstrated abilities to successfully coordinate, execute and control key organization functions, including managing a budget or forecast, leadership and staff management
- 5+ years relevant work experience similar to RV technicians with structural, electrical and plumbing preferred
- AC/DC fundamentals preferred and experience with use of power tools required
- Multiple company exposure strongly desired
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
- Proficient with MS Office
- Ability to work in both a team environment and independently
