Overnight: Next-Gen Systems Control
When building an Adventure Van, creating a straightforward systems control can be a daunting task. Managing all the systems involved in an Adventure Van usually means a cornucopia of dials, knobs, buttons, and readouts that are strewn throughout the van. This is where a modern smart control system like the one we have installed in Overnight shines.
Working with Garmin, we implemented a comprehensive smart control system that manages every aspect of Overnight. Using hardware modules that are directly connected to the critical systems in the van, the Garmin control center seamlessly monitors and adjusts anything connected to it. This includes the interior and exterior lights, awning, heating, air conditioning, vent fans, and water.
Located in a centralized location above the galley, the Garmin SERV Control Center touchscreen is your hub in controlling all aspects of the van. There are multiple screens with specialized monitoring and control schemes neatly laid out. Want to check in on how much power you have stored in your batteries? Simply tap the lightning bolt icon and you will be led to an in-depth screen detailing all aspects of your power system. Want total light control at the tip of your finger? Tap the lightbulb icon to control and dim all lighting, including the awning lights.
We debuted this system in Parks, and Overnight offers up the latest iteration of this control center which now includes a secondary 8″ tablet touchscreen which attaches via Garmin magnet docks to the headliner and to a docking location in the pop top. The Garmin Vieo uses a wifi signal to connect to the control center, and can be detached and taken anywhere around the campsite to control the van. In addition, the system is also able to be used via a connected mobile app, allowing for control wherever there is an internet connection. The Vieo is fully featured, and in addition to controlling the systems of the van, the tablet also features an inclinometer to help you level the van, can control music played through the Alpine stereo system, and track and plan your camping and road trips through Garmin Drive.
